Summer 2021 Course Spotlight at VCU

Virginia Commonwealth University’s offerings include: NURS 791 Scholarly Writing w/Dr. Nancy Jallo
and NURS 706 Teaching in the Health Professions – Surviving and Thriving in Academia w/ Dr. Kim Curry-Lourenco.

Summer 2021 NURS 791 Scholarly Writing  is a three credit foundational course designed to strengthen the ability of health sciences scholars to
engage in effective writing through an emphasis on logical thinking as a critical element in the development and dissemination of knowledge. Learning experiences using on-line technologies will facilitate scholarly learning. See course objectives on the course flyer at NURS 791.

NURS 706 Teaching in the Health Professions – Surviving and Thriving in Academia is a three credit course that examines the transition from health professions clinician to educator and introduces the multiple dimensions of the educator role. Practical information is presented for orienting to the academic environment and thriving in an academic career. Professional, legal and ethical principles associated with higher education are explored. See the objects on the course flyer at NURS 706.
