University of Buffalo Registration and Course Completion Procedures
Outlined below are the steps required for students to enroll and complete a course at UB as a NEXus TEACHING Institution.
1. Course Identification:
Student identifies course/s at www.winnexus.org.
2. Communicate with HOME Faculty Advisor:
Course selections should be approved by the student’s advisor.
3. Contact HOME Institution:
The Campus Faculty Coordinator (CFC) and the Campus Staff Coordinator (CSC) at the student’s HOME institution need to be contacted about the student’s plan to enroll in a NEXus course.
4. NEXus Tracking:
Download and submit a completed NEXus Tracking Form to HOME Campus Staff Coordinator.
5. HOME Institution Consortium Agreement form:
If you are receiving financial aid, complete and route your HOME Institution Consortium Agreement Form to have funds applied towards NEXus courses. (see consortium agreement for routing information)
6. Contact TEACHING Institution:
Incoming students contact Campus Staff Coordinator (CSC), University at Buffalo School of Nursing (UBSON): Louiza Case – email@example.com
7. Registration Deadlines:
Students must apply/register according to the deadlines stated by each individual Teaching Institution. Please visit the following link to see important deadline dates: http://www.winnexus.org/registration-deadlines
8. Apply to TEACHING Institution:
Please complete the NEXus student application (https://www.gradmit.buffalo.edu/etw/ets/et.asp?nxappid=GRA&nxmid=GetPublicApplicationSite&progid=3A40TDUBN)
Once the application is complete and accepted, the student will receive a UBIT username and password to access necessary UB websites and resources.
Before registering, students must fill out the immunization waiver (information can be found here: http://www.student-affairs.buffalo.edu/shs/student-health/immunization.php)
9. Student Account:
Student is issued a UBIT account, and is e-mailed the account ID and instructions on how to access it.
10. Student Notification:
Student should receive email regarding UBIT username and password. Student may then log in to UBLearns (ublearns.buffalo.edu) to access the course.
The Campus Staff Coordinator will also be in contact with the student for follow-up. Additional questions should be forwarded to the Campus Staff Coordinator.
11. Course Enrollment:
The UB Registrar enrolls the student.
Once registered for the course, Student will gain access to UBLearns (Blackboard) using their UBIT name and password and be able to log in to the course materials
Once the student is enrolled in the course, an e-bill is automatically generated and sent via email; students can pay online with a credit card or can mail a check.
14. Teaching Faculty Contact:
The CSC will notify the instructor(s) once a student is enrolled and the instructor may/may not contact the student directly prior to classes beginning.
15. Course materials/ Library access:
Textbook information can be found via the syllabus or direct communication with the CSC or instructor. Course materials will be posted in UBLearns (Blackboard); please note students might not be able to view the course in UBLearns until the first day of the term
Student completes course.
The student must notify the Instructor, CSC and CFC.
